A Bump in the Road

Last week we received some disappointing news from our agency. The region we have been placed in will be closed for the entire summer. I had been convinced that we would receive a referral this summer but now that isn't a possibility. Disappointed is an understatement. I feel like we have been waiting forever to become parents and another delay just felt like a blow. Is this ever going to happen?!!! The reason the region is closed is due to a couple of people taking vacations in June and July and an audit being conducted in August. I spoke with our adoption specialist to see if any other options are available to us such as changing to a different region, but we both decided that by the time we prepared another dossier (each region has their own requirements), got that notarized and apostilled, and had it translated in Russia most of the summer would be over with anyway. Since the agency feels this region is a good fit for us due to the age of child we have requested (as young as possible) we will just hang tight for the summer. I believe that at the end of this process (if it's ever going to end!) we will see God's perfect timing in this - that the delays and bumps in the road have led us to the child that He has chosen for us!

Ugh... sorry to hear about the latest delay. I think the only thing predictable about this process is that it is unpredictable! Hang in there... at least school is about to be out!
